What you say? (March 13, 2012)
By Allan Thomasson
Why do I think the way I do?
It really is quite clear:
Because of my environment.
Also, of how you hear.
The accent, drawl, or resonance
Of words which I may speak,
And what I’ve heard is what I say,
For I’m a child, and weak;
Therefore, when older people talk,
I pick it up, and then,
Should anyone come near to me,
I’ll say those things again.
Be careful how you speak and hear;
Words are not soon forgot.
They are one main communication,
Whether plan, or plot.
Your actions, too, speak much of you,
And how your ways were formed.
For in your home, those things went on,
So do not be alarmed
When some you meet upon the street
Speak those harsh thoughts to you;
Those words that you would but construe
Just by that person’s view
Of how life is, for example; just
A meaningless free-flow
Of basic thought, and that has brought
You to say all you know,
By words that you were subject to,
And actions, great or small.
Then in your conversation(s)
Open up and tell it all.
So now, that your ways won’t be known
To us, the whole world through,
Be careful what you say and do,
Your ‘house’ will be like you.
If love prevails, no friendship fails,
And love comes back full-blown;
For ‘what goes ‘round’ just ‘comes around’,
And you’ll never be alone.
So, now: 'Whatchu Say?' (Song: 'Hit The Road Jack')
