Try It, You’ll Like It (Poem: for March 9. 2012)
By Allan Thomasson

Had a piece of pie today?
Then you know pie is good.
I don’t have to e’en describe it.
It’s just understood,

For you have tasted it yourself;                                       Psalm 34:8
You know it’s right for you.
There is a thing which I have tasted,                               I Peter 2:2-3
You would like it, too.

If I should tell you as you travel
Some place you would go,
If I’ve been there, then I could tell you
Things that you must know

Before you travel on that road
(For I’ve been there before):
A bridge is out? There’s bandits there?
Those things I did explore.

And as a friend, I’d tell you true,
That you might be aware
Of things you must consider, for
I am a friend who cares.

I once was on my way some place
Where no one wants to be.
It’s hell, and then the lake of fire,                                     Revelation 20:10-15
Which burns eternally.

I found another route to take,
To thus avoid that fate;
Believed in Jesus, and was saved:                                     John 3:16
I did not hesitate.                                                               II Corinthians 6:2

For in the Bible, I did read
That while I lived in sin,
The Father loved me anyway,                                            Romans 5:8
And He would take me in.

And would forget the sins I’d done,
Forgiving every one.
And when I came to Him that day,
Why, He made me His son.                                                I John 3:1

I have no fear of dying now.
For I know where I’ll go:
To heav’n above, where God’s own love                           Philippians 1:23
Like gentle breezes flow.

I’d like to take you there with me,
When our fleeting life is o‘er.                                            James 4:14
Believe in Him, and ‘lose’ your sin;
For on that other shore,

New heaven and new earth He’ll make,                            Revelation 21:1-7
It’s just for all who came
To God, by His Son, Jesus Christ,                                     John 14:6
Believing on His name.

There is no end to eternity,
And where we go, we’ll be.
And we believers there shall live
Always, eternally.

Where love, and joy, and peace serene
With righteousness shall reign,                                          II Peter 3:13
With God the Father, and the Son,
For believing in His name.

For the universe shall be no more;                       Revelation 20:11; II Peter 3:10-13
It's purpose is complete,
For God then has His family.
I'll worship at His feet.
