‘From Sin and Shame To Golden Streets’ (March 26, 2012)
By Allan Thomasson
While in my wilderness of sin,
I walked, one cloudy day.
Thinking of the man I’d been,
As I walked life’s weary way.
Lost and undone, I was alone,
And had no hope within.
But Jesus Christ came to my heart.
I asked Him in, and then:
He said : ‘My Father loves you so,
And He sent Me to you.
Like many others came to Me,
And I saved their souls, too.
For that is why I came to earth,
To live that righteous life;
Then give my life, the Sacrifice
For you, and every one.'
John three-sixteen; that’s what I mean!
Has brought to me new life.
No more in shadows and dark clouds,
I’m saved from sin and strife.
Now I’m a witness: by His name,
You, too can now be saved
From all the former sins you’ve done;
No longer be a slave
To sinful flesh, with its affections,
Lust, sinful desires.
With love, compassion, lastly fear,
To save you from that fire.
But love, and mercy; joy and peace.
All that can be yours, too.
For He saved me, and set me free.
He’ll do the same for you.
And, should we never meet again
Upon this turf, we’ll meet
In that new heaven and new earth,
We’ll walk those golden streets.
