Of ‘Ancient’ Man (March 5, 2012)
By Allan Thomasson

We hear the tones of ‘ancient man’,
And ‘early man’ from men
Who seem to seek for a higher state,
Than just the one we’re in.

So, then, referring to forefathers
Who have come; much time before us,
They refer as ‘ignorant’,
And join in with the ‘chorus’:

There are ‘secular humanists’,
Who like that sort of tone,
It makes them so much better than
The ones in ‘age of stone’.

How strange: the Bible tells us clearly:
‘Adam talked with God’,
Soon as his feet were on the ground,
Upon this earthy sod.

Do they not read that history,
Which many prophets wrote,
As God commanded them to do
In times which were remote?

Since man, there's been a language
Which was understood by men;
For Adam was intelligent
As man has always been.

Why show neglect and ignorance
Of things we know are true?
Us ‘simples’ know a lot of things,
And they should know them, too.

Have searching men, who live their sin,
Denied the God Whose word
Within the scriptures clearly states
So many souls have heard?

Our brains have not advanced as much
As they choose to believe;
But, rather, we’ve reverted from
That message most receive;

That man is such a sinful creature,
Christ came, lived, and died,
That He might pay for sins of men,
Which many have denied.

Our flesh has its opinions, and
The devil thus enhances
Those baseless schemes of man’s own dreams,
Eliminates their chances

Of knowing Christ, the only Savior
Of their sinful soul.
And they deny the God that loves them,
Wants to make them whole.

'New heaven and new earth’ God said,
He’ll make for you and me,
And He will come, and take us home,
That for ever we shall be

In that great new creation, which,
His peace, and joy, and love,
Shall like refreshing breezes flow,
Throughout our home above.

Those who refuse God’s mercy shall
In torment ever be;
For they’ll be judged as ‘wicked’;
And shall be, eternally,

In eternity's great lake of fire,
Which shall never go away.
Believe in Christ, and you’ll be saved
Today: this is your day!

(John 3:16-18)
