My Life At A Bargain (March 29, 2012)
By Allan Thomasson
Once I realized I had life,
I could not believe ‘twas true!
Life at a bargain was giv’n to me;
Now that I have it, what should I do?
I did explore the world around me,
Found some time, put it to use.
I had a brother and two sisters,
I, the youngest, was the ‘caboose’.
Last one chosen playing scrub,
Last one chosen, taking sides.
Peaked at three, I started thinking,
‘They're just taking me for a ride!
Still we’d always play together,
That’s what country children do.
I began making things much better:
No ‘them and me’, but ‘me and you’!
I didn’t always take advantage,
Though sometimes I knew I could.
We were kids, so I just ‘fit in’:
Be a playmate, like I should.
When I was eight, picked up a guitar,
Had no television set.
We were healthy kids, just playing,
No one was in charge, you bet.
Learned to playguitar and ‘French harp’,
Steel guitar, and mandolin.
We’d sometimes all get together,
And we’d all just ‘pick ‘n’ grin’!
Then at twelve, I met my Savior.
When He called, I opened wide
The door to Him that was inviting.
And my Savior came inside.
Life was good. It was a bargain,
Let it happen at its best.
If you’ve read my poems and writings,
You already know the rest!

My life: what a bargain. It was free. And now I have an abundant life; and it was free, too!
John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-10; Revelation 21:1-7:
Can’t wait to see the next phase of my life: eternal life with my God and my Savior in that new heaven and new earth He will make especially for all who will believe on the only begotten Son of the only true and living God.
And that Son’s name is Jesus Christ.
Your life’s a bargain, too. And you can have a second life in Christ, and the last phase, eternal life, in a city with streets of pure gold. Jesus gave His life for you: Isaiah 53:5-6.
