Why?
By Allan Thomasson
Why did God make the heav’n and earth?
Before earth had begun its birth,
The Father planned a family.
Which was to be both you, and me;
For we've believed in Jesus' name,
Who, in God’s love took all our blame.
But Why would God give up His Son
To cruel death; the cross upon
Which, with great joy, yet in such pain?
And then within a tomb was lain, (Isaiah 53:9)
Three days and nights, He tarried there, (Matthew 12:40)
While His apostles spoke their cares:
‘Our King has died, upon Whom much
Of all our hopes were placed! In touch
We were with His new kingdom then,
For we had thought what might have been,
'That, ‘In His kingdom, we’d be kings,
And lords; in charge of every thing.’
But now He’s dead. What hope have we?
Why did He leave both you and me?’
They could not 'see' those things He’d said,
They’d been the ‘tail’, they’ll be the ‘head’;
For Jesus died that we'd be saved.
They could not ’hear’ all truth He gave: (John 16:12-13)
Luke twenty-four, verse forty-four,
Said things to them not ‘heard’ before, (Luke 24:44-45)
Though in the synagogue they'd read,
Exclaimed, ‘No blessing! Christ is dead!’
But in our thoughts of 'carnal' man,
God’s message we can’t understand. (I Corinthians 2:14)
But Christ arose to give us light,
That by believing, we all might
Go from a ‘fate’, to ‘destiny’:
For ever, in eternity
We’ll dwell with Him, like others, saved,
For Jesus came forth from that grave! (Matthew 28:5-6)
So, ‘He is risen!’ is the key
To victory for you and me.
Believe in Jesus Christ today,
And He shall take your sins away; (Acts 16:31a)
And with our Savior we shall be,
For ever, in eternity.
New heaven and new earth shall be, (Revelation 21:1-4)
For God made us for ‘destiny’.
