‘Chronological Steps to God’
To everyone who is inclined to search for God, the following things must be considered:
The first thing I believe everyone notices about everybody else is that society, and the population of the world, are sinners.
And that is the correct assessment, for it is inarguably the truth.
We all do wrong things to somebody else; and we all neglect, ignore, and refuse to admit that there is a God. So here is the first scripture to acknowledge”
Romans 3:23: No one is left out on this declaration of truth:
23) “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory (righteousness) of God.”
I have heard some say, ‘Well I don’t do any thing wrong. I don’t have any sin in my life.’
No matter how honestly one may say that, it indicates primarily one of two things, basically:
1) Those who say that do not know what sin is, or,
2) They fail, or refuse, to acknowledge sins which they know they have in their lives; or, maybe a third one:
3) They know they have sins, and are lying about the knowledge of them.
And in each of the above categories of failure to admit guilt of sin in their lives, there are many ‘fringe’ areas of the same.
Have they ever mistreated someone, or rejected God in any way? That is sin:
I John 3:4: The true definition of sin, written by an apostle of Jesus:4) “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression (violation, failure to produce all of the values) of the law (of Moses).”
Have you read the law of Moses lately? or, ever?
Here are some of the excerpts of the law, spoken by Jesus Christ Himself:
Matthew 22:37: Jesus replies to a Pharisee who tempts the Lord:
37) “Jesus said unto him, ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.’ (Deuteronomy 6:5)
38) “ ‘This is the first and great commandment (in the law of Moses:
39) “ ‘And the second (great commandment in Moses’ law, which God gave to Moses to give to Israel (the Jews, the ‘circumcision’, of the covenant of Abraham) is like unto it (the first and great commandment in the law of Moses), ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.’ (Leviticus 19:18)
40) “ ‘On these two commandments hang all (the rest of) the law and (all) the prophets (in their writings of the scriptures).’.”
Meaning: All scriptures pertaining to 'good' works of righteousness are founded upon those two scriptures. All other scriptures will further define, and explain, and coordinate more concisely how to follow those two scriptures. (Isaiah 28:9-10)
However, keeping those commandments, and all the others which fall out of them as more detailed methods as to how to perform them, will not save a person who has already sinned even one time in their life, for we must come to God for forgiveness for those sins we have committed; for every time we transgress (violate, fail to keep) either of the two commandments which Christ mentioned above, we have sinned against God, Who gave those commandments.
And this is the sequence of receiving remission (taking away) of our sins which we have committed:
John 3:16-18: Jesus explains the gospel to us:
16) “For God so loved (every person in) the world, that He gave His only begotten Son (,Jesus Christ, for He is the only acceptable Sacrifice for sins of man), that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish (in their sins, with their eternal penalty for unforgiving sin), but have everlasting life (a ‘destiny’, rather than a ‘fate’, which awaits all who have not believed, and their sins remain with them, unforgiven).
17) “For God sent not His Son (from heaven, to inhabit a sacrificial body of flesh, and be crucified for the sins of all who would believe in Him) into the world to condemn (anyone in) the world, but that (every person in) the world through Him might be saved. (Isaiah 53)
18) “He that believeth on Him is not condemned (any more for their sins which they had committed); but he that believeth not is condemned already (still), because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
This is the prayer, and confession of King David of Israel, the psalmist, when he had found himself in the judgment of God for David’s own sin:
Psalm 51:1-4a: David, king of Israel, prophet and priest, wrote:
1) “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindess: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2) “Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3) “For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4a) “Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Thy sight:”
How do we come to God? By Jesus, His Son, Whom God sent to the Jews with the amplification of the law of Moses. And the following scripture is a good skeletal view of Jesus’ message to us about the law, which is not kept, but ‘produced’ through ‘faith, which worketh by love’ (Galatians 5:6).
Ephesians 2:8-10:
8) “For by grace (which comes by Jesus) are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God (to all who believe in Jesus).
9) “Not by ‘works’ (of the law), lest any man should boast.
10) “For we are HIS workmanship (He constructs us from the ground up), created (re-created, born again, a new man) in Christ Jesus unto ‘good works’ (which are through ‘faith, which worketh by love’), which God hath before (heaven and earth were made,) ordained that we should (continually) walk in them.”
After you have received forgiveness of sins, believing on the Son of God, a next step should be that you be baptized (immersed) in water, thus demonstrating Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection as your testimony that you are also ‘resurrected’ (spiritually) in Him.
Then, in order that you might become capable of spiritual understanding of the truth that is within the scriptures, receive (be baptized with) the Holy Ghost, and receive the tongues, which is the prayer language in the Spirit.
Here is the detailed and concise manifestation of all of the things we have discussed thus far:
Acts 10:43-48a: Peter preaches Christ to Gentiles:
43) “Go Him (Jesus) give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission (taking away) of sins.
44) “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45) “And they (the Jews) of (covenant of) circumcision which believed (in Jesus) were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46) “For they heard them speak with tongues (the purging of the temple of the Holy Ghost, their body, through the Spirit praying through them), and magnify God (in plain language worship of God). Then answered Peter (to this occurrence),
47) “Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
(Joel 2:28, Acts 2:4)
48a) “And he commanded them (the new believers) to be baptized in the name of the Lord.”
Now there is one more necessary consideration which we must follow, and this scripture shows us what that is:
I Timothy 2:15:
15) “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (accurately knowing, and precisely comprehending) the word of truth.”
If you are not presently inclined toward coming to God for free salvation from your sins, think of the only two eternal destinies that await all mankind, for man will be in eternity for ever, without end; and there will be no more opportunity to change your mind. (Daniel 12:2)
I would love for you to be my brother or sister in Christ, and go with me into the new heaven and new earth.
For the only alternative, read Revelation 20:11-15.
If that doesn’t quite convince you to make the right decision, read
II Peter 3:10 through verse 13.
Which will you choose? Make the right choice. Live where I will.
If you take the alternative, I will miss you.
God loves you. Love Him back! dunomos@aol.com
