'Would You Believe' (July 7, 2012)
By Allan Thomasson

Would you believe me if I told you
Jesus made the universe?
Some may take what I just said,
But others won't; and worse,

They wouldn't any way receive
That Jesus Christ was God,
For many are so well convinced,
That, while on earth He trod,

He wasn't more than just a man,
The same as you and me.
And that He could not, would not, ever
Make that claim. You see,

The scripture says He's God's own Son,
In Mattew one, eighteen.
In Hebrews eleven, one and two,
The truth will now be seen,

And First John five, verse eight, we see
In the 'Godhead' ('God') there's Three,
The Father, Word, and Holy Ghost.
So it's real plain to me:

Since Jesus, direct 'Child of God',
Is of that 'Trinity',
And in the book, John, chapter one,                   (verses 1-17)
Defines that He must be.

He took upon Him flesh of a man,                      (Galatians 4:4; Hebrews 19:1-5)
But not of Adam, no!
Without the sin of sinful men,                             (II Corinthians 5:21)
To that cross He alone could go.

Christ only was acceptable
To be that Sacrifice,
And die for men, take away our sin,
And He paid that awful price.

In Hebrews ten, verse five, it says
God had prepared for Him
A body He could sacrifice,
To save the souls of men.

For bulls and goats could not approach
To take our sins away;
The law was but a 'shadow' of
Good things to come some day.

So when He came in the Father's name,
He thus fulfilled the law,
And when we then believe in Him,
Our sins He shall withdraw.

Now He's preparing us a place,
All believers there shall go,
For He, The Word, as you've now heard,
Came to this earth below,

To thus fulfil God's purpose in
The making of all things;
And now 'the family of God'
Will rule and reign as kings.

And we'll escape the rage of hell,
And of the lake of fire,
And go to that sweet home above,
He'll fulfil love's great desire.

No longer shall this mortal be,
For we have been translated
Into that everlasting state
For which we've long awaited.
