'If We Two' (July 18,2912)
by Allan Thomasson
If we two walked side by side,
In the street and in the glen,
What reaction would we view then
From observance by all men?
We would fellowship together,
Speaking then of glorious things.
Would my friends then come and greet us?
Hear the things our talking brings?
Or would they but walk broad from us,
Keepin their eyes on the ground,
Not perceiving our appearance,
Nor our words, but only sound?
If we two were me and Jesus,
And they knew Him by their sight
As they cast their eyes upon Him,
Quickly walk on past with fright?
I am walking with my Savior,
And some people I do know
Will not closely stay there with me
When the love of Christ I show.
Many think I am accusing.
That I do not undertake
What I'm speaking just to warn them
Of decisions they might make.
God made us to be His fam'ly.
Not our flesh yet, but the soul,
That we might in heaven with Him
Ever be, as ages roll.
Now you know that Christ is with me;
Of your welfare we most care.
If we two can thus convince you
This relationship we share
Can be yours, now and for ever.
Eternity's not far away.
Come with us to the home in glory,
Live, in that eternal day.
